Some Pics of the Family...

Introducing - My Famiy

Hello.
First, let me say thanks for taking time out of your busy life to read about mine.
Second, I will tell you, as a disclaimer of sorts, that I have NO idea how this craziness will unfold...so, hang on and enjoy the ride!
(You should jump off at any time if dizziness or headaches begin to occur.)

My name is Jen.
I have been married for a little more than a couple of decades...to the same man. I won't say "happily married" because I feel like people who say that are just not being honest; to themselves or anyone else. We are happy a lot...and we don't like each other sometimes. But we are committed and we do love each other. Let's just say that my kids have all learned a great deal about conflict resolution.

I am part Hispanic from my mother's side, and part everything else European on my dad's...but quite a bit more Irish than anything else. This should explain a bit more about the conflict resolution I mentioned above. Hispanic/Irish women tend to be very.........let's say.....passionate in their beliefs.

My husband is mostly Swedish on his mother's side, and is, like me the first born in his family. That makes for interesting debates. He is HIGHLY intelligent, and  can be sweet and romantic when his brain isn't getting in the way.
He is a builder at heart, and wired like an IT guy. He is the Ying to my Yang! I am the Type B, and very much about artistic, creative, slow paced, relaxing kind of endeavors...and even the word endeavors makes me sound more motivated than I can actually claim.
He is the Type A, go-go-go, Mr. Productive, fixer of all (even if it ain't broke, so to speak), who has a tendency to add a flair of the dramatic to discussions. He is an entrepreneur at his core, and all about business applications and management.
I have tried to run my own business...but I didn't like my boss, so I quit.

We have four biological kiddos and a bunch more that call us mom and dad.

Our eldest daughter, Jessi (23), who has a beautiful voice, hair AND heart. She is going to be finishing school to become an RN, (But I believe I recently overheard her say she just wants to be a Disney princess when she grows up). She loves playing Volleyball, hunting, fishing, but also doing her nails a different color every week and was recently married to Izaac.
Izaac (26), is a Sheriff's Deputy, super athletic and just as goofy as Jessi...he is her best friend in every way and we love him like he was our own. He is the one who broke Jessi into the world of hunting and fishing, and was smart enough to only put one shell in the gun at a time when teaching Jessi to shoot. (She's a little accident prone.)

Second up is Alli (20 3/4), who is my mini-me, and our spunky little type A daughter. She LOVES animals...and I mean ANY animal! This girl has brought home all kinds of strays. She is, like her siblings, a wonderful singer. She works circles around anyone as a Barista/Manager (with a bit of the inner control freak thing that she is learning to polish up...NOT afraid to speak her mind) and has a desire to work on the mission field.

Then we have our gentle giant, David (19). He is 6'2" and 230 lbs. (So when he stands next to me at 5'2" on a good day...I feel like a HOBBIT!) He also has a great singing voice...TRUE base. He is sweet, but tough and is currently enrolled in a UFC gym 6 out of seven nights and is looking to get into the Air Force Academy in the fall. I can always tell when he is around after a shower...I can hear his Irish music playing loudly and moving randomly down the hall.

Last, but certainly not least, is our youngest Valarie (15). Super athletic, (Girls H.S. Soccer team!) a naturally good student, also a great singer, and beautiful on the outside as well as the inside. She loves hanging at Disneyland with daddy, siblings, or friends. She's kind of a freak about ravioli and Doritos...and much like her dad, she also has a flair for the dramatic! (She was the only 6th grader to be in a High School play a couple of years ago...she was AMAZING!) She has new vocabulary just about every day that I try to keep up with. Slang words that she is getting from the public H.S. she is attending as a freshman this year. (Google has kept me very informed.)

We have recently moved back to Southern California from Mississippi, having to leave a part of our family behind for the first time ever. We have adult children living with us, a teenager, and a married daughter and son-in-law in a different state that are preparing to move IN with us when they transition to California in the fall of 2017.

There is always compromise, adjustments, a little yelling and a LOT of forgiveness in our family, on a daily basis.

This is our story...The Full Nest Chronicles.
